Batman: Curse of the White Knight #4 (DC): There are lots of fun character moments here for Babs, Dick, and Bullock, and I swear Sean Murphy draws the coolest cars in comics.

Ginseng Roots #1 (Uncivilized Books): I really enjoyed the fast-paced debut of Marked #1 by David Hine & Brian Haberlin, but it's hard to top Craig Thompson's intricate art and effortless storytelling.

Batman Universe #4 (DC): East of West was hot, Sonata was strong, but this was basically a perfect cape book, the baseline level of quality we should demand from a throwaway shared universe superhero affair, fun, inventive, and glossy candy-like perfection to the art.

Grendel: Devil's Odyssey #1 (Dark Horse): It was great seeing the return of Manifest Destiny, but I loved the design work in this, and the further exploration of the Grendel mythology in one of the OG creator-owned books!
